The Movers And Shakers – Week Ending 20/05/2018

International

Grey College of South Africa who dominates the schoolboy rugby scene in South Africa is still #1 while Paul Roos (RSA) passed St Kentigerns College (NZ) after their victory against Paarl Boishaai (RSA). Christchurch BHS (NZ) and Hamilton (BHS) stormed up 6 positions each to enter the Top 10 at #6 and #7 respectively. Paarl Boishaai (RSA) drops out of the Top 10 after their defeat to Paul Roos (RSA) with St Pat's College Silverstream (NZ) replaces them at #10.

The Top 20 of the International rankings did not have much movement with only Hilton College of South Africa entering at #19 replacing Rotorua Boys High from New Zealand who dropped 15 positions after their loss to Wesley College with 10-0.

A bit of criticism to the current rankings from our South African readers complaining about the number of New Zealand teams in the Top 20 compared to the South African teams. It must be remembered that as New Zealand's rankings are only 3 weeks old and therefore not much movement in the ranking points of the schools has occurred as of yet. This should start to change after about 5 weeks and then a better representation of South African schools should be seen.

New Zealand

A proper brakedown of the rankins as is done with South Africa will only be done from week number 5.

South Africa

Not much movement in the Top 100 with very few schools moving into the different categories. The South African rankings are settling down as the schools start to play in their relative leagues and/or competitions.

The Top 10

The big fight between Grey College and Paul Roos continues for the #1 spot. Garsfontein enters the Top 10 at #8 after a good win against EG Jansen with Oakdale dropping 3 positions to #13 after their loss against Paarl Gim (39-47)

The Top 20

Boland Lanbou is back in the Top 20 at #20 after the victory against Bishops who drops out of the Top 20 to #24.

The Top 50

Noord Kaap drops to #57 out of the Top 50 after their "surprise" loss against Duinelveld (27-42). This was their second loss in a row as they were defeated by Diamantveld the week before. Northwood enters the Top 50 at #49 after a good win against Clifton (41-27).

The Top 100

Upington enters the Top 100 at #96 after they gained 1.5 ranking points for playing highly ranked Diamantveld. Ligbron drops 1 position to #101 even though they were not in action.
