The Movers And Shakers – Week Ending 27/05/2018

I am a bit late but here we go .....

International

The International Rankings is three weeks old and some sense is starting to come from it. I do suspect that when the Top 8 in New Zealand starts next week we will a lot of changes in the New Zealand rankings. Glenwood overtakes Napier Boys High at #4 after their good win against DHS. Napier was not in action last week.

Christchurch BHS drops 5 positions and out of the Top 10 after their win against Mid Canterbury Combined with 102-0. Mid Canterbury Combined a very low ranked side cost Christchurch the mandatory 1.5 ranking points. Auckland Grammar close win of 16-15 against De la Salle saw them moving up 6 positions into the Top 10 at #10.

St Peter School Cambridge dropped 10 positions to # 27 after conceding the mandatory 1.5 ranking points after their win of 65-12 against lowly ranked St John's Hamilton while Christ College also loses the 1.5 ranking points and drops 9 positions after their win against Lincoln Combined. Transvalia after their win against Monnas enters at #18 and Garsfontein after their good win against Menlopark moves up 11 positions to #14.

New Zealand

As said last week the first mover and shakers will be done after the upcoming weekend.

South Africa

Top 10 - Oakdale moves up 3 positions to #10 after their hard-fought win against Outeniqua with 42-35 and in the process claimed the title of king of SWD. Monnas drops from the #10 spot to #15 after their expected but surprising loss against Transvalia 34-31.

Top 20 - Wynberg is the only school to drop out of the Top 20 after their unexpected loss against Bishops with 29-33 while Bishops climbed 8 positions to #8 due to the same game.

Top 50 - Ben Vorster who beat Hugenote from Springs with a massive 102-3 exits the Top 50 due to Hugenote's low ranking AND the 1.5 ranking point rule. St John's victory against Michaelhose gave them 1.783 ranking points and 8 positions to enter the Top 50 at #46.

Top 100 - Ligbron enters the Top 100 at # 100 while Hugenote Springs enters at # 99 after gaining 1.5 ranking points after their massive loss against Ben Vorster. Parel Vallei drops 2 positions to #101 and Krugersdorp High dropped 5 positions to #102.
